Prince's Trust
Princes Trust community project in Salford
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service runs a twelve week 'Team' personal development programme for 16 - 25 year olds in partnership with the charity, Prince's Trust.
The programme is available for both unemployed and employed young people and includes work experience, careers advice and job opportunities, new qualifications, challenging projects, an action-packed team building week away, the chance to make a difference to the community and much more.
The community project is a huge part of the course and involves young people working towards a goal. Previous projects have included refurbishing community centres, community gardens, nurseries and care homes.
By working with other organisations such as Prince's Trust, we can unlock young peoples' potential and improve their confidence, motivation, skills and job prospects. Two out of three unemployed participants find work or go on to further education or training after completing the programme. Of those employers whose staff go on the course, 90% report improvements in the skill and attitudes of staff on their return to work.
