Community fire cadets

Community Fire Cadets is run by Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service with the aim of supporting 13 – 16 year olds and educating them about community safety, educational achievement and citizenship.
Who is Community Fire Cadets aimed at?
Cadets mainly come from referrals from local schools and are set up in areas that were specifically targeted due to their location and evidence of car theft and malicious calls to the emergency services, anti-social behaviour, index of social deprivation and local conditions, outcomes of crime and disorder partnerships and associated reduction strategies. Young people in these areas aged 13 – 16 are targeted who need support at school, are at risk of becoming involved in anti-social behaviour or crime or they want to work in the Fire Service.
Aims of Community Fire Cadets
- To establish a uniformed youth organisation associated with aspiring to the inherent qualities of the Fire & Rescue Service.
- To assist young people in developing themselves mentally, physically and socially.
- To promote self discipline, social consciousness and awareness of their responsibilities towards others.
- To encourage team working and self confidence in their own abilities.
- To enhance their practical abilities and knowledge, to enable them to pay a full and constructive role in society.
- To improve knowledge and practice in relation to Fire Safety and their personal wellbeing.
- To participate in charitable fundraising activities for the benefit of others.
