GMFRS is offering schools in Greater Manchester a free training session that will be led by our trained firefighters and volunteer support staff and will involve us teaching schoolchildren how to perform basic life support skills including CPR.
It follows the success ofour first European Restart a Heart Day on October 16, 2015, in collaboration with the British Heart Foundation and North West Ambulance Service. On this day we taught thousands of schoolchildren to become lifesavers and we now want to build on this success.
The feedback we received from the majority of schools was that it would be convenient to host the sessions towards the end of the school year. Therefore, this year we are launching Healthy Heart Week on Monday, July 11. This forms part of our commitment to ensure that no student in Greater Manchester leaves school without knowing how to save a life.
If you would like us to visit your school, please get in touch via the email below depending on where you are based:
To support the training session, the British Heart Foundation has offered to provide schools with a Call Push Rescue kit containing information, training DVDs and 35 inflatable mannequins. To apply for your free kit please visit: https://www.bhf.org.uk/heart-health/nation-of-lifesavers/mission-cpr
