1) How many audits have been carried out on non-domestic properties with respect to the Regulatory Reform Order

2) How many properties were served with enforcement notices with respect to the Regulatory Reform order

3) How many prohibition notices have been issued and

4) How many of these properties mentioned under b) and c) were providing sleeping accommodation since October 2006.

Answer: Since the introduction of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 in October 2006, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Authority has carried out;

1) 9874 audits in non-domestic premises

2) Served 651 enforcement notices, of which 145 related to premises that are likely to have sleeping accommodation

3) Served 12 prohibition notices, of which 4 related to premises likely to have sleeping accommodation

4) It is not possible to exactly identify all premises which were providing sleeping accommodation as some premise whose primary use is, for example a take-away, have had ad-hoc sleeping accommodation in the same area.

Q2. On what exact date did your Brigade formally change it's name to Fire and Rescue Service?

Answer: The Fire and Rescue Services Act 2004 created the duties of the Fire and Rescue Service. The Act came into force on 1 October 2004. The name of the legal entity responsible for discharging those functions is Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Authority.

Q3. What is the area, preferably in sq miles or km, of the ground covered by your Brigade?

Answer: The ground covered by Greater Manchester Fire and rescue Service is 496 square miles

Q4. What is the population (with date) of the area covered by your Brigade?

Answer: The population of Greater Manchester is 2,562,200 in 2008
