Our vision

Our vision is  "To make Greater Manchester a safer place by being a modern, community focused and influential Fire and Rescue Authority."

Our vision was updated in 2006 to fully reflect our ambition in light of the changes brought about by the modernisation of the fire and rescue service. We believe that our vision now not only captures and supports our current work but also gives our employees a common understanding of the direction we are taking. We will achieve our vision by:

Community
Working in co-operation with local communities to identify and reduce risks from fire and other hazards which affect all those who live, work or visit Greater Manchester.

Partnership
Consulting and engaging all local communities and key stakeholders to form partnerships that benefit everyone.

Inclusivity
Becoming an inclusive organisation that recognises and appreciates the value of people's diversity and strives to communicate effectively with all employees and representative bodies.

Responding
Responding quickly, competently and effectively whenever emergencies happen by making sure we have the right resources in the right place at the right time.

Modernising
Adopting the principles outlines in the Fire and Rescue Service Act 2004 and the National Framework and managing change in an innovative way, providing a service that is value for money.

Influencing
Being a pro-active, influential player within the national, regional and local arenas.
